The Hawkes House is located on Derby Street in Salem, Massachusetts. It is a Federal Style building which dates to 1780. It was designed by noted architect Samuel McIntire for Elias Haskett Derby but construction stopped in 1782 when Derby moved to another house in town. The home sat unfinished for twenty years until it was purchased by Benjamin Hawkes, a local shipbuilder, in 1801. The home is now part of the Salem Maritime National Historic Site.
