Benny Hill's home is on Queen's Gate in London. The famed television comedian lived here from 1960 to 1986. He began his career after World War II, working in radio, and later in television, with moderate success. After moving into this apartment in Kensington his career began to take off. He appeared in the films Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines (1965), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968) and The Italian Job (1969), and on radio in Benny Hill Time (1964-1966) But it wasn't until The Benny Hill Show appeared in 1969 that he became a superstar. The show combined filmed scenes along with live studio sketches, and had a bawdy, irreverent, slapstick appeal that has found a cult following ever since. He rented this home until 1986 when he moved to Teddington. There is a blue plaque at the front door honoring his time here.
