Lauren Bacall's home is on Bank Street in New York City. She moved into this Greenwich Village apartment building with her mother Natalie in the early 40's. While living here she had a walk on part in the Broadway play Johnny 2 X 4 and was crowned Miss Greenwich Village of 1942. Her appearance on the cover of the March 1943 issue of Harper's Bazaar brought her to the attention of director Howard Hawks who arranged for her to come to Hollywood to audition for his next film To Have And Have Not. He was impressed enough with her to sign her to a long term contract, at which time she moved to California.
