The Double Indemnity house is located on Quebec Drive in Los Angeles, California. This Spanish Colonial Revival mansion was used for the location filming in the 1944 film noir. The Billy Wilder directed classic stars Fred MacMurray as an insurance salesman and Barbara Stanwyck as a miserable housewife. Together they concoct a scheme to get rid of her husband and collect the insurance money. This house, in Beachwood Canyon, was the home of Stanwyck's character, Phyllis Dietrichson, and can be seen in a few exterior shots during the film. All the interiors were shot on soundstages. Double Indemnity was nominated for 7 Oscars in 1945. In 1992 the Library of Congress selected the fim for preservation in the National Film Registry.
