Benjamin Franklin's birthplace site is on Milk Street in Boston, Massachusetts. It was in a house which once stood at this location that the famed author, statesman, and invenot was born on January 17, 1706. Franklin was the 15th of 16 children born to Josiah and Abiah Franklin and lived here with the family at the house on 17 Milk Street from 1706 to 1712 when they moved to a home on Union Street. Franklin resided in Boston until he was 17 then moved to Philadelphia. The house stood until 1811, when it was destroyed in a fire. The facade is marked with a bust of Franklin along with the words Birthplace of Franklin beneath it.
