George Harrison's home is on Upton Green in Liverpool, England. The future member of the Beatles moved here with his family in 1949. He would live here during the most formative years of his life. From 1954 to 1959 he attended the Liverpool Institute High School For Boys and it was at this time that he met fellow student Paul McCartney on the bus to school. In 1956 Harrison's father bought him his first guitar, a Dutch Egmond flat top acoustic. His love of music attracted McCartney's attention and in 1958 he was invited to join the band he had formed with John Lennon, the Quarrymen. By age 16 he had left school and would soon be joining his fellow Beatles on the road. The Harrison family continued to live here until 1965, when George moved them into more comfortable lodgings.
