Woody Guthrie's home site is at South 1st Street and West Birch Street in Okemah, Oklahoma. On July 14, 1912 the fabled folk singer was born in Okemah in a house that stood on 6th Street. The following year the family moved to a two-story, six room house which stood here at the intersection of South 1st Street and West Birch Street. Althought the house was torn down in 1980, the foundation can still be seen, along with a carved wooden monument on the hillside in front of the property.
