Walt Disney's birthplace is on North Tripp Avenue in Chicago. The legendary film producer was born here, in this two-story wood cottage, on December 5, 1901. His father, Elias Disney, had purchased the land in 1891, and began building the house in 1893. Walt lived here with his parents and four siblings until 1906 when the family moved to Marceline, Missouri. In 1991 the city of Chicago attempted to designate the property a historic landmark, but the then owner resisted and won. In recent years the house has found new owners who are attempting to restore the home to it's 1901 appearance.
