A Christmas Story House is located on West 11th Street in Cleveland, Ohio. Although in the classic 1983 filmthe action takes place on Cleveland Street in Hohman, Indiana, the exteriors and some interiors for the movie were shot here at this home. The film was directed by Bob Clark and based on three chapters from Jean Shepherd's autobiographical novel In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash. The house, which doubled as Ralphie Parker's home, was built in 1895 and stands in the Tremont neighborhood of Cleveland. The home had been remodeled over the years and was nearly unrecognizable until it was purchased in 2004 and underwent a restoration which brought the interiors and exteriors back to their 1983 look. The house opened to the public as A Christmas Story House and Museum in 2006. Many of the houses in the neighborhood still stand, including the Bumpus house, next door and two other homes which are now part of the museum complex.
