Superman's birthplace is located on Kimberly Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the idea of writer Jerry Siegel, who lived in this house, and his high school friend, artist Joe Shuster. They created The Man Of Steel in 1933 and over the next several years he underwent various character changes and much tweeking until he emerged as the pop culture icon we know today. After knocking on doors for several years, trying to find a home for their creation, the team finally worked out a deal with DC Comics and saw him hit the stands in the June issue of Action Comics #1 in 1938.
