The Abraham Lincoln Home National Historic Site is located on South Seventh Avenue in Springfield, Illinois. It was here Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of the United States, and his family lived from 1844-1861, when they moved to Washington after his election. This house, sitting on the corner of 8th and Jackson Streets, was the only home that Lincoln ever owned. The house and the surrounding four block neighborhood are listed as a National Historic Site, which the National Park Service Maintains. The house has been designated a National Historic Landmark and been listed on the National Register Of Historic Places.
