Zane Grey's home is on East Mariposa Street in Altadena, California. The noted western author moved his family to Southern California in 1918 to try his hand in the burgeoning film industry. In 1920 he and his wife bought this 1907 Mediterranean Revival style house from Chicago businessman Arthur Woodward. Grey would live at this house, off and on, between adventuring around the world, until his death here on October 23, 1939. The house remained in the family until 1970, when it was sold. It has been added to the National Register Of Historic Places.
